Smoking... not as bad as cell phones???

Here is the study I was talking about on the show tonight... I found it on FOXNEWS.com. Scary stuff!!!!

A study by an award-winning cancer expert shows that cell phone use could kill more people than smoking, it is reported.

According to the U.K.'s Independent newspaper, the study, headed by Dr. Vini Khurana, shows that there is a growing body of evidence that using handsets for 10 years or more can double the risk of brain cancer.

Khurana — one of the world's top neurosurgeons — based his assessment on the fact that three billion people now use the phones worldwide. That is three times higher than people who smoke. Smoking kills some five million globally each year.

He warned that people should avoid using handsets whenever possible and called on the phone industry to make them safer. France and Germany have already warned against the use of mobile phones, especially by children, it is reported.

The study is said to be the most damning indictment of cell phone use. According to the Independent, cancers take at least 10 years to develop, which has influenced earlier cancer studies showing relative safety when using cell phones.

Law and Order Rob...

I talked about this last week on my show, but I wanted to give a quick update... I was officially arraigned in court on Friday for not having a front license plate on my car (us people from Michigan don't know how to act in Ohio...). If you didn't hear the story, I am an idiot and put both license plates (which were stuck together when I got them) on the back of my car-- I know, total blonde moment. I had a nice magistrate, he was able throw out the 55 dollar fine, but court costs were still $120.00. Gotta love our legal system. Where's Jack Macoy when you need him??

Hey Rob,

I'm sitting here in Strongsville listening to your show, and to add my two
cents to tonight's discussion, I've both given an intervention and been
given an intervention about an unsavory significant other:

When we were in college, one of my best guy friends got into a relationship
with a mutual aquaintence whom I knew to be a serial cheater. At the time,
my friend and I weren't that close, but after a couple of months I was tired
of listening to him beat himself up over how nothing seemed to be good
enough for her and listening to her gloat to everyone under the sun about
how she enjoyed leading him on but she "couldn't see herself committing to
one person" and so was cheating on him with multiple other guys. The sad
thing is we had a group of mutual friends, many a LOT closer to him than I
was, and all knew what was going on, but I was the only one who went and
actually told him he needed to rid himself of her for good.

A few years later, I was miserably engaged to a guy that in retrospect was
extremely possessive and a real creep, but at the time I wouldn't dump him
because I couldn't think of a good enough reason to (dumb excuse, I know)
and any time I mentioned that I needed space, the guy would start bawling
and going on about how he couldn't live without me and alluded that he'd
kill himself if I left (!!!!!!!). The more time went on, the worse the
situation became, and the more miserable I was, until the guy friend I'd
helped break away from psycho cheater girl repaid the favor.

In an interesting turn of fate, my guy friend and I ended up becoming very
close and started seeing each other. Though neither of us had romantic
intentions in mind when we staged our respective interventions, we're now in
the most stable and loving relationship either of us have ever been in and
are looking at purchasing a home together and getting married : )

It's a family affair...

I love this. It has just hit the internet that Hillary Clinton is related to Angelina Jolie, while Barack Obama is related to none other Brad Pitt (like 9th cousins or something like that!!!) It was only a matter of time until someone decided to have some photoshop fun.

Here's the scoop... According to researchers at the New England Historic Genealogical Society, Barack Obama is a distant (way distant) cousin of Brad Pitt while Hillary Clinton is related to Angelina Jolie, Madonna, Alanis Morissette, and Celine Dion. The researchers found that Pitt and Obama are ninth cousins, linked by Edwin Hickman, who died in Virginia in 1769.

Injured While Drinking...

Ok, first let me just say that over my vacation I went to Cincinnati where, during the Cleveland blizzard, they had a total of 3, yes, 3 inches of snow. The city freaked out! They are wimps. Everything closed down for a couple days expect for one bar called the 'Cadillac Ranch.' Fortunately for this blog, the Cadillac Ranch had a mechanical bull. Mechanical Bull riding pictures are always fun. I'm up first!!
